It is truly an age of disbelief. Respect for the values of human life has plunged. People of Christian faith who declare belief in the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth that upholds the dignity and rights of the human person, stands with the poor and the excluded, shares with the refugees and the homeless, is at an all-time low.
In April 2016, I joined Archbishop George Lucas of the Omaha archdiocese on a trip of a lifetime – spending 17 days in China!
Peru opened its arms to me in the first days of September 1978. That meant learning the language, and the language school was in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Cochabamba was a beautiful place, and I finished an intense language course there.
There was a lonely Mission
Where Jesus was adored
They knew His ten commandments
And read His holy word.
They knew His love was tender
They felt His simple call
And every year would render
A testimony in the name of all.
A few weeks ago Maria Johnson, Director of Hispanic Ministry, sent a note to Columban Father Maurice Foley asking him to write some articles about his missionary experience.
